Trea Turner spent one and a half seasons playing with the Los Angeles Dodgers after beginning his career with the Washington Nationals, and now he has moved on to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Turner signed an 11-year contract worth $300 million with the Phillies and received a full no-trade clause, meaning he will presumably finish out his career with them. The Dodgers had interest in re-signing their All-Star shortstop, but reportedly were reluctant to dish out a long-term deal.
As Turner moves on to the next chapter of his career, he took a moment to thank Dodgers fans on social media for their support during his time in Los Angeles.
In his first season with the Dodgers, Turner finished the year as the batting title champion with a .328 average, splitting the season with L.A. and the Nationals. This past season, he helped the Dodgers win a franchise-record 111 games during the regular season.

Turner was additionally part of two postseason runs with the Dodgers, but they were unable to win the final game in either of the two seasons.
The 29-year-old is coming off an All-Star campaign in which he hit .298/.343/.466 with 39 doubles, four triples, 21 home runs, 100 RBI, 27 stolen bases and a 128 wRC+ across 160 games.
In his career, Turner has been named to two All-Star teams, won a 2022 Silver Slugger award and he is a 2019 World Sereis champion.
Comfort was a factor for Trea Turner signing with Phillies
It was widely believed that Turner wanted to return to the East Coast, and that seemingly came to fruition when he reportedly rejected more lucrative offers in favor of signing with the Phillies.
“I was lucky enough to have some good offers on the table, and it was a tough consideration going through it,” Turner said during an introductory press conference at Citizens Bank Park.
“Me and my wife wanted to weigh all options, try to take the process as serious as possible, because we look at it as a partnership between whatever organization we were going to pick and our family. We were looking at it as all-in for a long time.
“We sat down and talked for a long time. Money wasn’t the No. 1 option for us; obviously it plays a part, but we just pictured ourselves here. I pictured myself in this uniform. [My wife] pictured herself living here and having family come and visit.
“We pictured playing with Bryce (Harper), (Kyle) Schwarber, Kevin Long. It just seemed like a lot of things added up and pointed us in this direction, and we were excited about it. This place is fun to play. I watched a lot of the playoff games, and this place was rocking.
“Just a lot of things pointing in this direction, and we felt really comfortable and happy. … We were committed 100% to where we were going to sign. We weren’t going to try to do a short-term deal or try to get the most money. We were trying to build a family and be in a spot for a long time.”
