After falling to the Arizona Diamondbacks in their final road game in Arizona, the Los Angeles Dodgers return to Camelback Ranch to take on the Milwaukee Brewers, who are in split-squad action, for a penultimate Cactus League matchup.
Freshly announced as the Dodgers’ Opening Day starter to take the mound March 30 against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Julio Urías makes his final tuneup after returning from the World Baseball Classic. While representing Team Mexico, the 26-year-old appeared in a limited capacity, pitching to a 7.00 ERA with 10 strikeouts across nine innings of work.
In two Spring Training starts for the Dodgers thus far, Urías has a 1.35 ERA in 6.2 innings of work. The left-hander should be stretched out to throw five innings against the Brewers.
Additionally making his third start of the spring is Wade Miley. Signed just over a week into 2023 by Milwaukee, the journeyman left-hander looks to be an impact arm this upcoming season in what is already a highly formidable Brewers rotation.
Plagued by injuries, Miley’s 2022 season saw him make only nine starts to the tune of a 3.16 ERA over 37 innings as a member of the Chicago Cubs. Across his first two starts of Cactus League play, Miley has posted a 3.00 ERA.
Miley faces a Dodgers lineup that includes several regulars, including Mookie Betts appearing in his first game since playing with Team USA in the WBC. Betts’ return to camp saw him first appear in a B game on a backfield at Camelback Ranch on Thursday.
Eddy Alvarez, who spent a portion of the 2022 season up with the Dodgers, is starting at shortstop for the Brewers.
The Dodgers lost to the Brewers at American Family Fields of Phoenix in their first Cactus League game of the year.
