Now in their 10th season as the exclusive home of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Spectrum SportsNet LA again was recognized at the 2023 Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards for their in-depth coverage of the team.

SportsNet LA won in the Sports Feature category with their “Backstage: Dodgers” episode that looked back on Vin Scully’s final homestand as broadcaster in 2016. The feature was produced by Brad Feig and Jose Guzman served as the editor.

SportsNet LA also won an Emmy for Live Sports Coverage with their broadcast of the Dodgers’ game against the San Francisco Giants on August 2, 2022. Play on the field at Oracle Park unfortunately became a secondary focus amid news of Scully passing away.

That evening saw Joe Davis joined in the broadcast booth by Jessica Mendoza, a Southern California native, and the two shared touching memories of Scully throughout the game. SportsNet LA followed with two hours of postgame coverage that included several player interviews as they paid tribute to the Hall of Fame Dodgers broadcaster.

SportsNet LA won a third 2023 Emmy Award for Sports Series Programming (live broadcast) with the network’s flagship studio show, “Access SportsNet Dodgers.”

It’s anchored by John Hartung and includes a rotation of analysts in Nomar Garciaparra, Adrián González, Jerry Hairston Jr. and Dontrelle Willis, among others.

The 75th annual Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards were held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills. The awards ceremony honored locally-produced programs in the categories of Live and Breaking News Coverage, Crime and Social Issues, Culture and History, the Arts, Health and Science, Human Interest, Music, Sports, and the Environment.
