The Los Angeles Dodgers started their homestand on a positive note and now can match their season-best winning streak of six games.

They’ve previously rattled off six wins in a row from April 28-May 3, May 9-15 and July 7-15.

Lance Lynn is on the mound for his third start with the Dodgers as he looks to continue what’s been a successful showing since being acquired in a trade with the Chicago White Sox. The right-hander has logged at least six innings in both of his outings with the team and collected a minimum of six strikeouts.

One area that’s remained a problem spot, however, is the home run ball. Lynn gave up one to the Oakland Athletics and three to the San Diego Padres. Lynn has surrendered 32 home runs this season, the most in baseball.

The Rockies counter with Austin Gomber, who enters 9-8 with a 5.40 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 23 starts this season. Gomber sports an inflated ERA but is coming off six scoreless innings and has allowed two earned runs or fewer in his past three starts, and in seven of the last eight.

Gomber is yet to face the Dodgers this season.

Despite a left-hander being on the mound, the Dodgers lineup includes James Outman and David Peralta. Some of that is related to J.D. Martinez still being unavailable as he recovers from a left groin/adductor injury.

Chris Taylor is the designated hitter while Kiké Hernández makes another start at third base. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts lauded Hernández for his performance at third after Thursday’s win.

While the Dodgers look to keep their momentum, Friday marks a celebration of Fernando Valenzuela and the retiring of his No. 34 jersey. It’s part of Fernandomania Weekend at Dodger Stadium, which concludes Sunday with a replica 1981 World Series ring giveaway.
