The Los Angeles Dodgers (89-50) are not playing their best baseball of the season right now, but they are heavily favored hosting an opponent that may be at its worst starting Monday with a three-game series at Dodger Stadium.
The Dodgers just dropped three of four games to the Arizona Diamondbacks over the weekend and will next take on the Colorado Rockies (59-79), who have lost six straight games, 10 of 11 and 12 of 14. Los Angeles is listed as a consensus -320 favorite (bet $320 to win $100) on the MLB odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com for the series opener with Walker Buehler on the bump.
Rockies at Dodgers | OddsShark Matchup Report
Buehler (11-3, 3.03 ERA) has not allowed a run in either of his past two starts, scattering nine hits over 13 combined innings during that stretch with just two walks and 19 strikeouts. In fact, he has had only one bad outing in his previous four trips to the mound, also blanking Arizona for six innings in an eventual 3-2 loss on Aug. 9.
After that, he surrendered five runs and five hits in four innings of a 13-7 road loss to the Miami Marlins on August 15. Buehler has gone 5-0 at home with a 2.13 ERA to pay off at online betting sites.
Meanwhile, the Rockies will give the nod to 22-year-old righty Peter Lambert (2-5, 6.63 ERA), who has not earned a victory since June 11 versus the Chicago Cubs.
In his last 13 starts, Lambert has suffered all five of his losses and walked away with eight no-decisions, with his ERA jumping dramatically from 1.50. He has been slightly better on the road this season, going 1-3 with a 6.07 ERA compared to 1-2 with a 7.00 at home.
Colorado has struggled mightily against Los Angeles recently as well, going a dismal 3-15 in the past 18 meetings dating back to the end of last season, according to the OddsShark MLB Database. On a somewhat positive note, the three wins for the Rockies have occurred in the last six games between the teams, although all three came at home.
The Dodgers have won eight straight matchups in the series in their own ballpark going back to July 1, 2018. Despite losing three of four to the Diamondbacks, they still have the most home wins in baseball with an outstanding 52-18 mark there.
