The Los Angeles Dodgers welcomed Mookie Betts back to the lineup and kept humming right along by defeating the Colorado Rockies, 7-0, to extend their winning streak to four games. Betts hit one of the Dodgers’ four home runs in the victory.
They improved to 25-8 against the Rockies over the past three seasons, which are the most wins by a National League team against a single opponent during that span.
The Dodgers quickly got to work on adding to Antonio Senzatela’s career struggles at Dodger Stadium, as Corey Seager lifted the first pitch he saw for an opposite-field home run. Chris Taylor then followed with a homer of his own to give the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead.
It marked the first time the Dodgers had back-to-back home runs during the regular season since Taylor and Kiké Hernandez did so against the Houston Astros on Sept. 12, 2020.
Betts hit a home run off Senzatela in the third inning, Gavin Lux drove in a run on a broken-bat single up the middle, and another scored when AJ Pollock grounded to shortstop but Trevor Story threw low and C.J. Cron failed to dig it out.
Max Muncy padded the lead with an RBI double in the fourth inning and hit a towering solo home run to straightaway center field in the sixth.
By then Trevor Bauer had settled into another dominant outing despite facing the Rockies for a second time this season. Bauer allowed just one hit — a soft infield single — over seven shutout innings, complete with nine strikeouts. Bauer retired the final 14 batters faced.
While the outing was similar to his first two starts of the season, Bauer erased his struggles in the seventh inning. Coming into the night, opponents had hit .625 in that frame.
Price makes home debut at Dodger Stadium
After Bauer dominated the Rockies, he gave way to David Price in what was also his home debut at Dodger Stadium. Price recently mentioned finding a routine as a relief pitcher was his biggest challenge, but he appeared plenty comfortable in his first action since April 5. Price bookended a perfect inning of work with strikeouts.
