The Los Angeles Dodgers led baseball with a franchise-record 111 wins during the 2022 regular season, and individually and collectively were among the top merchandise sales on Lids.
The Dodgers as a team ranked second overall in merchandise sales, trailing only the New York Yankees. The Chicago White Sox (third), defending World Series champion Atlanta Braves, and Toronto Blue Jays rounded out the top five.
Although not much of a surprise considering their up-and-down season, the Philadelphia Phillies were not represented.
The Boston Red Sox (sixth), Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, Pittsburgh Pirates and San Francisco Giants completed the top-10 list.
That the Yankees and Dodgers topped the list of team merchandise sales was to be expected given their longstanding histories and being two of the most valuable franchises in baseball.
As for individual MLB jersey sales, Mookie Betts topped Lids’ rankings. Also making the top-10 was a Jackie Robinson throwback jersey at No. 5, and Cody Bellinger checked in at seventh.
This year was the 75th anniversary of Robinson breaking the MLB color barrier.
Additional retro jerseys of Derek Jeter (second), Roberto Clemente (eighth) and Nolan Ryan (10th) also made Lids’ top-10 list.
Betts and Bellinger previously have been among the players in best jersey sales through MLBShop.com. Their respective popularity peaked between the Dodgers winning the 2020 World Series and start of the 2021 season.
Meanwhile, Freddie Freeman finished fourth for most embroidigraphs, which are autographs Lids embroiders onto caps and apparel at in-store customization stations.
Dodgers rumors: Carlos Correa interest
As the Dodgers are in the early stages of evaluating options in free agency, they reportedly have interest in signing Carlos Correa if they are to lose Trea Turner on the open market.
Correa hit .291/.366/.467 with 24 doubles, 22 home runs and 64 RBI over 163 games this year. He missed time during the season due to right middle finger contusion and also was on the COVID-19 injured list.
Correa has a player option for the 2023 season that he still must officially decline in order to become a free agent. The 28-year-old has already publicly stated he will do so.
