The Los Angeles Dodgers have been active on social media in recent days with everything going on in the country after the death of George Floyd due to police brutality.
Whether it be the organization quoting Jackie Robinson in a statement, Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney pledging to support change, Mookie Betts adding his perspective, or countless others, Dodgers players have not been afraid to speak out about what they feel is wrong.
With so much going on in the Major League Baseball world as they attempt to negotiate a plan for the 2020 regular season, it can be easy to lose sight of what is truly important right now. That was not the case with several Dodgers players, who have continued to help shed light on social issues and the Black Lives Matter movement.
They continued to do that on Tuesday by participating in the ‘Blackout Tuesday’ social media initiative with Betts, Joc Pederson, Cody Bellinger, Kenley Jansen, Ross Stripling, Kiké Hernandez, Max Muncy, Will Smith, Gavin Lux, Caleb Ferguson, Clayton Kershaw and David Price among those posting black squares on their personal Instagram accounts.

The point of the initiative was not to remain silent, but rather to set aside posting to promote personal gains or business reasons for one day in order to raise more awareness for the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Dodgers have always been leaders in the country and community when it comes to racial injustice, most notably paving the way for Jackie Robinson to break MLB’s color barrier in 1947.
So while it is not surprising to see that continue to this day, it is still encouraging to see their commitment to inspiring change for the better.
