The MLB non-waiver trade deadline is less than 24 hours away, and among the Los Angeles Dodgers are among the teams that are expected to be active.
The Dodgers have already made a big splash before the deadline, acquiring Manny Machado from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for five prospects.
They are still in search of some relief help though, as they have been linked to Texas Rangers closer Keone Kela in addition to many others.
One other name to keep an eye on is Miami Marlins right-hander Brad Ziegler. According to Jon Morosi of MLB.com, the Dodgers are among the teams that have shown interest in the 38-year-old:
The Phillies, Dodgers, Red Sox, Cubs, Yankees and Diamondbacks have shown varying levels of interest in Ziegler, sources said.
Ziegler started the season as the closer of the Marlins but struggled. He has since moved to more of a setup man role and has been much more successful.
In his last 28 appearances, Ziegler has posted a 0.64 ERA with 22 strikeouts and 11 walks in 28 innings of work, so he has clearly shown that he can still be effective. He had a 7.88 ERA through his first 25 outings prior to this stretch.
Overall in 53 games this season, the sidewinder is 1-5 with a 3.98 ERA, 4.59 FIP and 1.27 WHIP while striking out 37 and walking 17 in 52 innings.
Ziegler has an $8 million contract this season, so Miami would either have to assume some portion of his remaining deal, or the Dodgers would have to send some salary back in any potential deal considering the Dodgers desire to stay below the luxury tax threshold.
Marlins righty Kyle Barraclough is also a name that has come up in recent trade speculation involving the Dodgers.
