The Los Angeles Dodgers conclude their homestand Sunday afternoon with a chance to complete a season series sweep of the New York Mets and extend their winning streak to 10 games, which would be their longest of the year.

A 13-1 stretch coupled with the San Francisco Giants losing three of their last seven, has the Dodgers 1.5 games back of first place in the National League West entering play Sunday. While the team has finally made headway in the standings, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts downplayed the notion of there being frustration prior to this stretch.

“We just try to control what we can control. It wasn’t ideal when they were winning when we were winning, but that’s baseball,” Roberts said. “We’ve just got to go out there and take care of our own business.

“When you do that, good things are going to happen and you’ll put yourself in a good spot. We’ve done that. To ride the wave of emotions, that’s going to catch up to you. I think if you can be unified in how you attack each day together, you can withstand some things.

“As you’ve seen, we’ve done that over the years and certainly this year. So I like where we’re at.”

L.A. tries to keep their momentum with David Price on the mound for his 11th start and 32nd overall game this season. Price is 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA and 1.34 WHIP thus far, and is facing the Mets for only the second time in his career — with the first coming in 2012.

New York counters with Marcus Stroman, who is coming off a bit of a tough-luck loss to the Giants. He went seven innings and allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits, and collected nine strikeouts.

Stroman is 8-12 with a 2.84 ERA and 1.12 WHIP in 25 starts. The right-hander has only faced the Dodgers one other time in his career — for the Toronto Blue Jays during an Interleague game at Rogers Centre in 2016.
