Max Muncy became the latest Los Angeles Dodgers player to thank fans for their support on social media after a disappointing end to an overall great 2022 season.
Previously, Trea Turner, Justin Turner, Brusdar Graterol and Yency Almonte also turned to social media to offer fans their end-of-season thoughts express gratitude.
Muncy posted his thanks to fans on Instagram, specifically mentioning the attendance the Dodgers produce whether it is on home or on the road and their support during the “most frustrating season of my career.”
Additionally, he shared his disappointment that the team was not preparing for Game 1 of the World Series and said they needed to play better in the postseason.
He ended his message saying “Don’t worry we will be back!”
While the Dodgers won a franchise-record 111 games, Muncy had his worst season to date with the club. Over 136 games, the 32-year-old batted .196/.329/.384 with 21 home runs.
Most of Muncy’s struggles came early in the season as he returned from a torn UCL suffered at the end of the 2021 campaign. But once he found his swing and started to get back to full health, the two-time All-Star produced at the levels expected of him with a .906 on-base plus slugging percentage in August and an .882 OPS in September.
The Dodgers expressed their faith in him during the season by signing Muncy to a contract extension to keep him in Dodger Blue for at least one more season, along with a team option for 2024.
Max Muncy hopes Clayton Kershaw retires with Dodgers
After another stellar season, Clayton Kershaw is set to once again reach free agency. While he has left open the possibility of retiring, he is leaning toward playing in 2023.
The 34-year-old could be enticed to pitch for his hometown Texas Rangers, but Kershaw has meant so much to the Dodgers and most want to see him retire with L.A. as his only organization, which was a sentiment Muncy expressed earlier this season.
