Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation To Invest In Teach For America-Los Angeles

The Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) announced it is investing $25,000 this year in Teach For America-Los Angeles. This donation is the largest LADF has contributed to Teach For America-Los Angeles since the partnership began in 2014.

The grant supports the non-profit’s ability to recruit and train a cohort of teachers at Manual Arts High School, where Teach For America is one of more than 50 community partners contributing to a significant academic turnaround.

Teach For America-Los Angeles was established in 1990 to work with communities to expand education opportunity for children facing the challenges of poverty.

“LADF is pleased to help Teach For America–Los Angeles provide a pipeline of diverse, talented, and passionate teachers for Los Angeles schools with the greatest needs,” said LADF executive director Nichol Whiteman.

“By sponsoring TFA-LA’s work at Manual Arts High School, we are helping to recruit and retain innovative leaders in our classrooms and community and prepare more students for college access and success.”

The LADF was involved with the Dodgers Love L.A. community tour during the final week of January, which included multiple stops at local schools. The foundation recently raised funds at the Dodgers’ fourth annual FanFest event to support their programs and charitable efforts.

Since 2014, LADF has granted nearly $2.5 million to over 100 charitable and community organizations throughout the greater Los Angeles area.
