The Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday acquired right-handed pitcher Jesus Liranzo from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for Luis Ysla. Liranzo will immediately optioned to Double-A Tulsa.

He was originally signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Atlanta Braves in May 2012. Liranzo spent the first year and a half of his professional career in the Braves organization, and had been with the Orioles since July 2013.

In 91 career Minor League games, Liranzo is 7-8 with a 3.71 ERA, with 202 strikeouts in 170 innings pitched while holding opponents to a .194 batting average. He spent all of last season with Double-A Bowie, going 3-4 with two saves and a 4.85 ERA.

Opponents hit .224 and Liranzo had 75 strikeouts compared to 43 walks in 65 innings across 31 games (12 starts) during that time.

The Dodgers acquired Ysla in a trade with the Boston Red Sox last July. He yielded a 6.17 ERA, had eight strikeouts and seven walks in 11.2 innings pitched across seven games for Double-A Tulsa.

Ysla is a lifetime 16-23 with a 3.93 ERA in 147 games (44 starts) over five Minor League seasons. In addition to the Red Sox and Dodgers, he’s also spent time in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Tom Koehler was transferred to the 60-day disabled list in order to create room for the addition of Liranzo to the 40-man roster. The minor trade is the second in as many days for the Dodgers. They previously acquired utility man Breyvic Valera from the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for Johan Mieses.
