The Los Angeles Dodgers extended their streak to seven consecutive wins on April 15, which is when MLB celebrates Jackie Robinson Day for the historic debut that happened 75 years ago, with a 3-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
However, their Jackie Robinson Day winning streak is now at two because they lost while on the road during the 2020 season when it was celebrated on Aug. 28 due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
All players and on-field personnel wore Robinson’s No. 42, as is tradition, but for the first time, every team across MLB had the number on their jersey in Dodger Blue to celebrate the 75th anniversary.
Prior to the game, the Dodgers gathered at the Robinson statue in center field to listen to David Robinson and the club hosted Rachel Robinson for the pregame festivities as well, where she was presented a special jacket from the Players Alliance.

During the game, the Dodgers jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead in the second inning on an RBI single from Chris Taylor to drive in Max Muncy. They nearly scored another but Justin Turner was cut down at the plate by a strong throw from Aristidies Aquino.
L.A. added another run in the third inning when Trea Turner tripled on a ground ball to right field, which drove in Gavin Lux and put the Dodgers up 2-0. A bases loaded walk in the fifth to Justin Turner then extended their lead to three runs.
The Reds responded with a revenge RBI single by former Dodgers catcher Kyle Farmer to cut the lead to 3-1, which was the final run scored of the game.
Craig Kimbrel came into the game to close it out and picked up his second save of the season, and first at Dodger Stadium, as he made quick work of the Reds lineup.
Dodgers’ pitching effective in win
Tony Gonsolin made the start for L.A. and while he wasn’t at his best, he pitched four innings while only allowing three hits and no runs. The right-hander walked three and only struck out two and dealt with runners on base throughout his night.
Tyler Anderson followed Gonsolin and pitched four innings of his own while allowing one run with four strikeouts.
Following Gonsolin with Anderson isn’t the prototypical option, but the two have combined to form an effective duo in back-to-back outings.
