The Los Angeles Dodgers set a franchise record with 111 wins this season but were eliminated by the San Diego Padres in the National League Division Series, and thus had ample time to participate in Halloween 2022.
For several players on the Dodgers roster, that entails being part of a family dress-up with their significant other and children. Such was the case for Freddie Freeman, his wife Chelsea, and their three children.
The Freemans dressed as Marvel movie characters, with Freeman going as “Iron Man.” Meanwhile, former Dodgers first baseman Adrián González wore a charro suit to go as a mariachi member for Halloween.
Austin Barnes, his wife Nicole and their son took on a space theme with their costumes.
Chris Taylor, his fiancée Mary Keller and their two dogs went with a farm animal theme.
In keeping with tradition, Justin Turner and his wife Kourtney again did a couple’s dress-up. Turner’s costume was of famed Mexican boxer Canelo Álvarez, and Kourtney accompanied him as a boxing ring girl.
Turner’s costume was complete with boxing gloves that are signed by Álvarez, who threw out the ceremonial first pitch at Dodger Stadium in 2013.
Halloween is also Kourtney’s birthday, and this year the couple was in Philadelphia for Turner to accept the 2022 Roberto Clemente Award.
Dodgers dress-up day
Halloween was the second time players were in costume over recent weeks as the annual Dodgers dress-up day was held for the team’s flight from San Diego to Phoenix.
Highlights included Miguel Vargas familiarizing himself with “The Sandlot,” Cody Bellinger misunderstanding Turner’s idea, and Trea Turner fittingly going as “Jordan Belfort” from “The Wolf of Wall Street.”
