FOCO released a commemorative bobblehead for the five Los Angeles Dodgers players named to the 2023 MLB All-Star Game. The limited edition bobblehead is available for preorder and won’t be restocked once quantities sell out.
Complete details of the bobblehead design have not yet been released, but it features Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Clayton Kershaw, J.D. Martinez and Will Smith. Betts, Freeman and Martinez were voted National League starters by fans.
Kershaw earned a 10th career All-Star Game selection, tying with Pee Wee Reese for the Dodgers franchise record, but has since been put on the 15-day injured list because of left shoulder soreness and replaced by Pittsburgh Pirates closer David Bednar.
Smith is in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career.
Betts earned a seventh All-Star Game selection in his career. It’s his third appearance with the Dodgers and fourth overall start. Betts is participating in the 2023 Home Run Derby as well.
Freeman is the first Dodgers first baseman to start in the MLB All-Star Game via fan voting since Steve Garvey did so from 1974-1980. Gil Hodges (1951) is the only other Dodgers first baseman to start an All-Star Game.
Martinez is the second Dodgers player to start an All-Star Game at designated hitter. However, when Max Muncy did so in 2021, fans did not yet vote for that position on the NL team.
The five Dodgers All-Stars are third-most among all teams for the 93rd Midsummer Classic. Only the Atlanta Braves (eight) and Texas Rangers (six) are due to have more representatives in this year’s All-Star Game at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
