After splitting the Freeway Series at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers are back on the road for a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox. It represents L.A.’s first visit to Guaranteed Rate Field since 2022, when they took two of three from Chicago.

The Dodgers enter play at 48-31, which is good for first place in the National League West. The Chicago White Sox own the worst record in baseball at 21-58. Meanwhile, the Dodgers are 10-7 in Interleague play this season.

They begin another matchup against an American League without Teoscar Hernández in the lineup despite the White Sox starting a left-hander.

It’s the first time Hernández is not in the Dodgers lineup this season. That leaves Freddie Freeman as the only player who has started all of the Dodgers’ 80 games, including Monday.

James Paxton is on the mound for his 14th start of the year. Paxton is coming off a strong performance at Coors Field last week, where he allowed just one run over seven innings. Paxton enters 7-1 with a 3.65 ERA and 1.31 WHIP.

The White Sox counter with Garrett Crochet, who has been one of the best pitchers in baseball this season. The left-hander is 6-6 with a 3.25 ERA, 2.59 FIP, 0.95 WHIP and averaging MLB-leading 12.6 strikeouts across 16 starts.

Crochet allowed three runs on nine hits and collected eight strikeouts over six innings of work in his last outing against the Houston Astros.

The 25-year-old has thrown two scoreless innings in two career relief appearances against the Dodgers, with both outings coming during the 2023 season.
