The Los Angeles Dodgers and Colorado Rockies have split the first two games of the Opening Series at Coors Field and now meet Sunday afternoon in a rubber match.

Still progressing through the first turn in their starting rotation, Julio Urías takes the mound for his 2022 debut. Urías’ start comes on an extra day of rest and after only pitching two-plus innings in the exhibition Freeway Series at Dodger Stadium.

Not only did the left-hander turn in a short outing, he experienced a decline in fastball velocity.

“I’m not concerned about the velo,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said at the time. “I think Julio will be fine. It was down, I don’t know the reason for it, but I think there will be a couple upticks in his start. … He feels strong.

“It’s not about last year, he had a good winter, he looks good, feels strong. All signs point towards he’ll be fine.”

Urías is 2-1 with a 5.53 ERA over nine games (seven starts) in his career at Coors Field.

The Rockies counter with Antonio Senzatela, who is in his sixth season with the team. Senzatela went 4-10 with a 4.42 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 28 starts last year. Included in that was going 1-2 with a 7.11 ERA in four starts against the Dodgers.

Senzatela faces a Dodgers lineup that has yet to hit its stride this season. If not for a two-out rally on Opening Day, L.A. could be facing the prospect of getting swept by the Rockies.

Trea Turner enters play with a career-best 21-game hitting streak that dates back to last season and is the current longest stretch in the Majors.
