The Los Angeles Dodgers snapped the Philadelphia Phillies’ winning streak at eight games and now can take the series at Citizens Bank Park during what’s expected to be a challenging stretch.

Still four games back of the San Francisco Giants for first place in the National League West, the Dodgers can ill-afford to fall further behind in the standings. The schedule isn’t necessarily working in their favor as L.A. plays the Phillies and New York Mets, and Giants host the Arizona Diamondbacks followed by the Colorado Rockies.

David Price tries to keep the momentum going and build off what was a relatively successful start his last time out. Price’s only trouble against the L.A. Angels was a pair of solo home runs allowed that tied the game.

Overall this season Price is 4-1 with a 3.53 ERA in 29 games (eight starts). Any length he can provide will be significant as the Dodgers used six relief pitchers on Tuesday and could be in a similar position for the series finale.

Philadelphia counters with Kyle Gibson, who enters 8-3 with a 2.79 ERA in 21 starts during time split with the Texas Rangers and Phillies. The right-hander is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA in two starts for the Phillies thus far.

Gibson faces a Dodgers lineup that is again without Mookie Betts. He was scratched on Tuesday and now has been placed on the 10-day injured list for a second time. Matt Beaty starts in right field in Betts’ place.

Justin Turner is also out as he recovers from left groin discomfort. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts suggested Turner likely would not play until the Mets series begins Friday.
