The Los Angeles Dodgers will face the American League champion Houston Astros in the 2017 World Series, with Game 1 scheduled Tuesday, Oct. 24. First pitch at Dodger Stadium is set for 5:09 p.m. PT.

Los Angeles and Houston meet in the World Series for the first time. They’re lone prior postseason matchup came in the 1981 Division Series, which the Dodgers won after dropping the first two games of the series at the Astrodome.

The Dodgers are in the Fall Classic for a 19th time in franchise history. This is their first trip to the World Series since 1988. Including their time in Brooklyn, the Dodgers have been crowned champions in 1955, 1959, 1963, 1965, 1981 and 1988.

Since they were added as an expansion franchise in 1962, then the Houston Colt 45’s, the Astros are in the World Series for a second time in franchise history. They were swept by the Chicago White Sox in 2005.

Houston was not switched to the AL until the 2013 season. They’re in the playoffs for only the 11th time, with nine of those berths coming as an NL team.

The Dodgers and Astros last met in August 2015 for a three-game set at Minute Maid Park. Houston swept the series behind 3-0, 3-1 and 3-2 victories. The series opener saw Mike Fiers throw a no-hitter in what was also his first career complete game.

When the World Series begins, it will mark the Astros’ first visit to Dodger Stadium since May 2012.

Each World Series game will be exclusively televised by FOX. Air time will begin at 4:30 p.m. for Games 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7. Coverage prior to a potential Game 5 would start at 5 p.m.

MLB previously announced a multi-faceted partnership with YouTube to provide fans with original and behind-the-scenes content, plus highlight some of the sport’s players and personalities, and sights and sounds of the game through YouTube TV. ESPN Radio will provide live national coverage throughout the World Series.
