The Los Angeles Dodgers returned from a successful seven-game road trip for a series with the Milwaukee Brewers during Players Weekend across Major League Baseball. From Aug. 25-27, all players are permitted to wear jerseys with nicknames, and unique cleats, batting gloves and other equipment.
While the color schemes and names on the back were different, the Dodgers continued rolling, dropping the Brewers, 3-1, in the series opener. Milwaukee took a lead on Domingo Santana’s (“Showmingo”) solo home run in the second inning, which finished as their only hit on the night.
Logan Forsythe (“Logie Bear”) pulled the Dodgers even with a home run in the bottom of the fourth. The home run was his first since July 6 against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Yasmani Grandal’s (“YGR Jr.”) two-out single to center field scored Justin Turner (“RedTurn2”) from second base in the fifth. Turner sparked the small two-out rally by drawing a walk and then swiping his sixth bag this season to move into scoring position for Grandal.
Yasiel Puig (“Wild Horse”), who had a gender reveal at Dodger Stadium earlier in the afternoon and made multiple impressive catches to aid Kenta Maeda’s (“Maeken”) cause, clubbed a solo home run to straightaway center field in the sixth inning.
The home run was Puig’s 23rd, which is more than the 22 he combined to hit during the 2015 and 2016 seasons. After concluding the weekend series with the Brewers, the Dodgers have an off-day Monday that’s followed by a seven-game road trip that features a doubleheader at Petco Park on Saturday, Sept. 2.
