While the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic brought Major League Baseball, retailers, restaurants and other sectors to a grinding halt, thousands have simultaneously been called upon to help flatten the curve and still carry out their responsibilities as essential workers.
Doctors and nurses continue to work around the clock, and the group at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles were recently treated to lunch and dinner courtesy of Justin and Kourtney Turner. The couple additionally has partnered with local restaurants to have food delivered to the L.A. Dream Center, which then distributes it as part of its 11-hour drive-thru service.
The charitable efforts are of course nothing new, as the Justin Turner Foundation regularly works to give back to the local community and provide for those in need. And on Thursday that amounted to Justin calling in via video conference to thank the L.A. Police Department and other essential workers for their tireless service during these unprecedented times.
A huge debt of gratitude to a fellow Angeleno—@redturn2—for stopping by (via live video call) to give the dedicated men & women that staff our city EOC, DOC, and @LAFD Comm Center, a message of encouragement and positivity. The @Dodgers continue to be our partners in leadership. pic.twitter.com/AzKO2rCF4s

With Southern California citizens facing indefinite uncertainty and challenges, the Turners remain committed to providing assistance. On top of ensuring food is delivered daily to The Dream Center, the couple is planning on having meals sent to CHLA a second time.
