Throughout their illustrious histories in both Brooklyn and Los Angeles, the Dodgers have been fortunate enough to employ some of baseball’s most iconic figures.

One of them being Hall-of-Fame broadcaster Vin Scully, who enjoyed a 67-year stint with the organization that spanned from 1950-2016. During this time, Scully established himself as one of the best at his position and is responsible for some of MLB’s greatest calls.

Beloved by Dodgers fans everywhere, Scully is often the recipient of many tributes that recognize his achievements. The latest comes from Keith Plocek, who recently launched Scully’s bobblehead into space using a weather balloon.

The footage was captured with a GoPro Session and the interesting developments were later uploaded to Plocek’s YouTube channel:

Plocek, with the help of some friends, revealed that he sent the Scully bobblehead into orbit from a Little League field in Palmdale, Calif. Using a GPS, they were able to retrieve it from a yard a mere 20 miles away in Lake Los Angeles.

In roughly two hours of air time, Plocek came to the conclusion that the Scully bobblehead had traveled anywhere between 60,000 and 100,000 feet above the ground.

Upon impact of the landing, Scully’s legs unfortunately broke off. Plocek remains optimistic, however, that he will be able to glue them back on.
