The Los Angeles Dodgers finished .500 on their six-game road trip by taking the rubber match against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Dodgers’ 3-2 victory was buoyed by Clayton Kershaw’s 11 strikeouts and Scott Van Slyke’s three-run home run that proved to be the difference.
Kenley Jansen converted the 161st save of his career, which tied him with Eric Gagne’s Dodgers franchise record. Los Angeles is now set to begin a seven-game homestand, starting Thursday with a four-game series against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee is coming off being swept by the San Francisco Giants in a three-game set at AT&T Park. The Brewers enter 4-6 in their last 10 games, while the Dodgers are 5-5.
Overall, the Brewers are 30-36 and in fourth place of the National League Central division. At 35-32, the Dodgers remain six games back of the Giants in the NL West.
The Dodgers are just 17-14 at home this season, while the Brewers’ 19-17 road record is superior to their home mark (11-19).
The Dodgers will face all right-handed starters over the series, which presumably will lead to Joc Pederson and Chase Utley returning to the lineup after not starting against Diamondbacks lefty Patrick Corbin.
Kenta Maeda is expected to start the series finale on Sunday in spite of being struck by a line drive on his right shin Tuesday night.
A Duke Snider retired number pin series will be distributed to the first 40,000 fans in attendance on Thursday. As part of Filipino Heritage Night at Dodger Stadium on Friday, Levy Restaurants will offer the Pinoy Dog at the Extreme Loaded Dog concession areas located on the field, loge and reserve levels.
The Pinoy Dog features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog topped with diced spam and pineapple, Sabretts’ onions in sauce and chicharrones.
On Sunday, the first 40,000 fans in attendance will receive Father’s Day Boxers. Dodgers coaches and players will participate in the ceremonial first pitch with their children, and fans are invited to play catch on the field postgame.
Also on Sunday, the Father’s Day Picnic Dog will be offered. It features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog topped with baked beans, potato salad, shredded cheddar cheese and BBQ sauce.
Levy Restaurants will also offer the Milwaukee County Stadium Dog throughout the four-game series. It features a quarter-pound, all-beef hot dog topped with fried cheese curds and county stadium secret sauce.
