The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Zach Reks and optioned Yefry Ramirez to Triple-A Oklahoma City prior to their series opener against the Houston Astros.

Reks is up with the Dodgers for a third time this season, though he’s only appeared in six games (two starts) thus far. He’s yet to collect a hit and has seven strikeouts over 10 plate appearances.

When Reks first joined the Dodgers in late June, he was in the midst of having reached base safely in 30 of 31 starts for Oklahoma City, and ranked in the top four of the Triple-A West in doubles (14), runs scored (32) and on-base percentage (.445).

Overall with OKC this season, he’s hit .312/.409/.583 with 18 doubles, 12 home runs and 38 RBI in 53 games.

Ramirez returns to Triple-A two days after making his Dodgers debut. The right-hander collected two strikeouts over two scoreless innings to finish out a blowout victory against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

“I just loved the way he was throwing strikes. He was attacking,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said after the game. “Fastball, slider, changeup. I just met him this morning. For him to go out there and pitch two innings to save some of the guys, I was really proud of him.”

Ramirez is 3-3 with a 5.49 ERA in 15 games (12 starts) for Oklahoma City this season. He has previously spent parts of two seasons in Majors with the Baltimore Orioles (2018-19) and Pittsburgh Pirates (2019), going a combined 1-10 with a 6.32 ERA in 30 games (13 starts).

Scherzer looking forward to Dodgers debut

The highly-anticipated series with the Astros features another wrinkle as Max Scherzer is scheduled to make his Dodgers debut on Wednesday.

Scherzer and the Washington Nationals have their own history with the Astros, defeating them in 2019 World Series. The future Hall of Famer is certainly aware of the tension between L.A. and Houston, and said he’s looking forward to the environment at Dodger Stadium.
