The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Edwin Uceta and optioned Mitch White to Triple-A Oklahoma City ahead of the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
White heads to the Minors one day after taking over for Walker Buehler in the eighth inning. White allowed both inherited baserunners to score, plus a third, before managing to record the final two outs.
White has appeared in 12 games for the Dodgers this season, allowing 14 runs (six earned) over 14.1 innings. In parts of two seasons with L.A., the right-hander is 1-0 with a 3.12 ERA and 16 strikeouts over 14 games.
White’s latest stint with the Dodgers began on June 15 when the club placed Cody Bellinger on the 10-day injured list due to left hamstring tightness. Bellinger is expected to return during the San Diego Padres series, with Tuesday being the earliest he can be activated.
Uceta is back with the team for a fourth time this season. The right-hander made his MLB debut when serving as an opener in a bullpen game against the Milwaukee Brewers at the end of April.
Uceta is 0-2 with a 3.55 ERA in seven games (one start) this year. He’s fared worse in limited time with Oklahoma City thus far, going 0-2 with a 5.79 ERA in three games (two starts).
Dodgers rest Betts
In the midst of playing 12 consecutive games without an off day, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts decided on giving Mookie Betts a chance to rest Sunday. Betts has continued to work on finding a consistent swing and even with a recent three-hit performance, stopped short of saying it was the start of a hot streak.
“I mean, it’s been so in and out, it’s kind of tough to say,” he said. “I’m just trying to take one day at a time, just focus that way and maybe in a month or so we can kind of take a look back. Right now it’s just one game at a time.”
