While Shohei Ohtani eventually will get back on the mound to continue starring as a two-way player, the Los Angeles Dodgers starting rotation in the more immediate future is going to benefit by the Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto tandem.
Shortly after signing Ohtani to a record-breaking contract, the Dodgers acquired Glasnow and Manuel Margot from the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Ryan Pepiot and Jonny DeLuca. Glasnow was only under contract for the 2024 season but signed an extension with the Dodgers as part of the trade.
Although the Dodgers are just about to begin their Spring Training schedule on Thursday, plenty of attention is already being given to the Seoul Series and Opening Day in South Korea. Yamamoto was previously reported as a likely starter for one of the two games against the San Diego Padres.
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has now confirmed the plan is for Glasnow and Yamamoto to start in some order during the Seoul Series, according to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic:
It’s “a safe bet” that the Dodgers will have Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Tyler Glasnow (in some order) start for their two season-opening games in Korea, Dave Roberts said.

Glasnow and Yamamoto have already faced batters during Dodgers Spring Training workouts at Camelback Ranch, with the latter garnering plenty of praise from teammates.
It’s unclear when either right-hander will make their Cactus League debut with the Dodgers. Though, Yamamoto already has been ruled out from starting Thursday, and Glasnow isn’t considered a likely candidate to face the Padres at Peoria Sports Complex.
Dodgers believe Tyler Glasnow can avoid injury
For all of his potential, one question mark for Glasnow throughout his career has been remaining healthy. However, he and the Dodgers are confident right elbow trouble won’t resurface and Glasnow will instead reach his full ace potential with the team.
