Well before Major League Baseball announced their findings from an investigation into the Houston Astros over sign-stealing allegations, Trevor Bauer was among the most vocal players to regularly criticize and call the organization into question.

And event after MLB found the Astros guilty of stealing signs by utilizing a center-field camera in real time en route to defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2017 World Series, Bauer continued to maintain they also wore electronic buzzers.

When the right-hander had an opportunity to face the Dodgers during Spring Training, he tipped pitches to Matt Beaty. Beaty seemed to be caught off guard (he flied out) but it of course was interpreted as Bauer wanting to demonstrate how helpful it is to be aware of what pitch is coming; he later said it was merely an ‘inside story.’

As the wait for a 2020 regular season continues, the Cincinnati Reds’ pitcher is poised to appear on the “Big Swing Podcast,” co-hosted by Ross Stripling. Beaty responded to the show soliciting questions from followers, which drew a response for Bauer.

The exchange on social media is yet another example of the 29-year-old being no stranger to controversy and or one to shy away from expressing his true feelings. Bauer recently made headlines when he said he looked forward to one day pitching for the Dodgers, his hometown team.

But the likelihood of Bauer and Beaty being able to reprise their Spring Training matchup doesn’t figure to be high. MLB commissioner Rob Manfred is expected to impose a short season that will have National League West clubs playing teams in their division and that of the American League counterpart.
