The Los Angeles Dodgers never trailed in Saturday’s 6-1 win over the San Francisco Giants thanks initially to Trea Turner slugging a leadoff home run in the first inning.

Turner’s homer could have been perceived as a bit of redemption considering the night prior his throwing error resulted in the Dodgers suffering a loss to the Giants in 11 innings. However, the dynamic leadoff man hardly viewed it as such.

“It’s over,” Turner matter of factly responded when asked how to move on from the blunder. “It doesn’t matter if I made five errors, had five strikeouts, or hit five home runs. The next day is a new day.

“Nothing is promised; success or failure. So you’ve got to roll with it. For me, I just try to move on as quick as possible whether it’s good or bad. At the end of the year if I can move on and individualize each situation, I think I’ll be in a good spot.

“Move on and let it be what it is.”

Turner’s adjustment to second base has not been without its stumbles along the way, but there have also been impressive defensive plays and more than enough offensive production to warrant the growing pains.

“I knew the ramifications, risk or what potentially might happen when you put a player at second base who hasn’t played there in a long time,” manager Dave Roberts said before the Dodgers’ win. “There’s going to be some bumps in the road.

“He’s getting better each day, he’s getting more comfortable, and I’ve said it so many times, the way he’s accountable to being there and working to get better each day, we’re better that he’s there. I appreciate it.”

Turner confident in lineup

While the Dodgers put together an impressive stretch in August and now find themselves tied with the Giants and Tampa Bay Rays for the best record in baseball, their offensive production continues to be inconsistent.

Turner expressed confidence in the Dodgers’ lineup after their loss in the series opener and believes their three runs in the first inning on Saturday are indicative of the group’s potential.

“You look at our career numbers individually and what we’re capable of when you get a lot of guys in the lineup that can get on base and drive the baseball at the same time. We should put a lot of runs up,” he said.

“When you play good teams you’re going to face good pitching and sometimes it doesn’t go your way. I think [Saturday] is a picture of what we can do the rest of the year.”
