The Los Angeles Dodgers begin the final series on their 10-game homestand on Friday night, and prior to the 7:10 p.m. PT first pitch, Steve Garvey will host a grilling a session at King’s Hawaiian Grill in the left field plaza of Dodger Stadium.
The “Grilling With The Garv” event is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. PT. Garvey will aid in the grilling of BBQ samples and provide tips for summer grill-outs. He will also sign autographs and pose for photographers in the time leading up to first pitch.
The King’s Hawaiian Grill is a new addition to Dodger Stadium this season, replacing the Think Blue BBQ. Among the items served are pulled pork sliders made with King’s Hawaiian original sweet rolls, smoked pork nachos, big island lava wings, and the Hawaiian BBQ Dodger Dog.
With their unique offerings and tabletops making for an ideal group gathering, King’s Hawaiian Grill has been popular destination thus far. In addition to grilling, Garvey is hosting the “Way We Were” series in left field.
The next “Way We Were” event is scheduled for June 10, prior to the series against the Cincinnati Reds.
Garvey was selected by the Dodgers in the first round of the 1968 Draft, and he went on to spend 14 of his 19 Major League seasons with the team. Garvey batted .301/.337/.459 and was selected to eight All-Star Games during his tenure with the Dodgers.
He also won the 1974 MVP Award, four Gold Gloves and was a key figure on the 1981 World Series team.
