Shohei Ohtani has been everything the Los Angeles Dodgers were hoping for, and probably more, in year one of the 10-year, $700 million contract both sides agreed to in the offseason.

He has helped the team once again stand at the top of the National League West standings with one of the better records in all of the Majors.

With the long-term commitment from the Dodgers, it seems that Ohtani decided it was time to find a more permeant place to stay for the length of the contract. With that in mind, Ohtani purchased a new mansion in the L.A. area, according to Jack Flemming of the L.A. Times:

Dodgers slugger Shohei Ohtani just put down roots in the L.A. area, dropping $7.85 million on a modern mansion in La Cañada Flintridge.

With the record setting contract in his possession, Ohtani has decided to begin enjoying the fruits of his labor after it was confirmed that he bought the house from the former owner, comedian Adam Carolla:

The Times confirmed the deal through real estate records. A real estate source familiar with the neighborhood, who declined to be named, confirmed that Ohtani is the buyer.

The seller is comedian Adam Carolla, who bought it for $7.327 million in 2018. He told Mansion Global he was selling the place after divorcing his wife, Lynette Paradise.

His new house in Los Angeles will have plenty of amenities for him to enjoy whenever he is away from the field during home stands and on off-days:

Built in 2013, the three-story home spans 7,327 square feet and sits on nearly an acre. The modern exterior gives way to Midcentury-inspired living spaces, which combine stone, glass and wood under skylights and clerestory windows.

Highlights include a kitchen with custom cabinetry, an indoor-outdoor living room and amenities such as a movie theater, a sauna, a gym and a basketball court. Spread throughout are five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms, including a primary suite with a balcony and spa tub.

Pocketing doors lead outside, where a lounge overlooks a swimming pool, spa and lawn.

With his new house approximately 13 miles away from Dodger Stadium, Ohtani should have an easy time commuting to Dodger Stadium.

Ohtani also spent $17 million on land for the house he will build on Hawaii’s Big Island, and much more will be spent for the eventual construction.
