High-A Rancho Cucamonga starter Mitchell White was named the California League Pitcher of the Week for games played April 6-16. He went 1-0 over nine shutout innings in two starts during that span.

The Los Angeles Dodgers selected White in the second round of the 2016 Draft. In an organization chock-full of young pitchers, White continues to shine as bright as anyone. His start on April 7 spearheaded the Quakes’ first no-hitter in their 25-year history.

White went four innings in the outing, issuing three walks and striking out five. In an ensuing start, the right-hander allowed just one hit and had six strikeouts over five shutout innings.

Since debuting with the Arizona League Dodgers last July, White has not allowed an earned run in 13 professional starts.

He’s thrown 31 career innings, allowing just eight hits and one unearned run. White has tallied a whopping 41 strikeouts to 10 walks. The 22-year-old appeared in two games for the Dodgers this spring, pitching in an exhibition contest against 2017 World Baseball Classic semifinalist Team Japan, and in one Cactus League game.

Against Japan, White allowed a leadoff single, then proceeded to retire six batters in a row. He finished with three strikeouts over two scoreless innings.

White then turned in three shutout innings in relief with two strikeouts in the Dodgers’ final game before breaking camp.
