Mookie Betts and his wife Brianna announced they are expecting their second child. The couple did not provide a due date, but Betts is now the fourth member of the Los Angeles Dodgers to make such an announcement this offseason.
The couple married after the 2021 season, with their wedding taking place on the eve of the MLB lockout officially beginning. Rap superstar Nelly performed, and the reception was also the final instance the Dodgers had contact with free agent Freddie Freeman before the lockout.
Betts joined Caleb Ferguson, Cody Bellinger and Max Muncy in sharing baby news since the regular season concluded. Bellinger revealed he and girlfriend Chase Carter are having a second child while he was still under contract with the Dodgers.
Of the aforementioned group, only Ferguson is due to become a first-time father.

Will Smith and his wife Cara also recently welcomed their first child, Charlotte Ann Smith, in the morning hours before the Dodgers faced the San Diego Padres in Game 4 of the National League Division Series.
The Betts already are parents to 4-year-old Kynlee, who has appeared with her parents at events to support the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) and threw out the ceremonial first pitch for Mookie Betts bobblehead night at Dodger Stadium during the final stretch of games during the 2022 regular season.

On a personal level, this past year was a success for Betts after he was limited during the 2021 season by a bone spur in his right hip.
Betts finished the season batting .269/.340/.533 with a career-high 35 home runs to go along with 40 doubles and 82 RBI. Betts won a sixth career Gold Glove Award and fifth Silver Slugger. He additionally was named to the 2022 All-MLB First Team.
