Each year during the MLB offseason, many players opt to have their wedding as it represents the only significant down time in the calendar for them. This year for the Los Angeles Dodgers, such applies to Caleb Ferguson and Mookie Betts.
Ferguson tied the knot with his fiancée Carissa Darnell during a ceremony in Ohio last month. Betts more recently married his longtime girlfriend Brianna Hammonds in California on Wednesday.
Several of Betts’ teammates attended the festivities, including Justin Turner and the recently re-signed Chris Taylor. Dodgers free agents Kenley Jansen and Joe Kelly also were present for the event.
Earlier in the week, Betts and Hammonds hosted a pre-wedding celebration at Dodger Stadium for his family and friends. David Price, who has a long history with Betts dating back to their days in Boston, was among those at the ballpark.
Prior to his wedding, Betts took to social media and asked Dodgers fans to assist with picking a hashtag. The options he provided for his impending nuptials were between “#HomeRunLove,” “#MookieBettsOnBri” and “#BettsOnLove.”

Betts and Hammonds have been together for 15 years and have a daughter. The couple met while in middle school and Betts proposed this past January.
Betts expects to avoid hip surgery
Betts was among the many Dodgers players to miss a significant amount of time this year due to injuries.
The 29-year-old dealt with a variety of ailments, including a bone spur in his right hip that twice caused him to be placed on the 10-day injured list.
Despite some speculation that he would need offseason surgery to repair the issue, the expectation is that Betts will be able to avoid it.
