Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts was among those selected during the 14th annual Harlem Globetrotters players draft. Betts was the second of five players drafted, with Sister Margaret Ann, Russell Wilson, Shaun Kirk and the late Chadwick Boseman also being taken.
It remains to be seen if Betts will play a game with the team, but the Globetrotters annually select high-profile celebrities and athletes that exemplify what the organization is all about, which is fun, entertaining and family-friendly basketball.
Other celebrities who have been drafted in recent years include Lionel Messi, Tim Howard, Neymar Jr., Usain Bolt, Missy Franklin, Mariano Rivera, Aaron Judge, Kevin Hart and Mahershala Ali.
Betts is known to not only be one of the best athletes in baseball, but one of the best in all of sports as he is also a professional bowler during his spare time.

While he is an all-world baseball player AND bowler, Mookie actually played hoops growing up and he can still dunk a basketball! Welcome to the squad! pic.twitter.com/9ZVw3lhCRO

The Dodgers acquired Betts in a blockbuster trade with the Boston Red Sox last offseason and it proved to be a needed move to get them over the top after winning their first World Series in 32 years.
He also signed a 12-year extension to remain with the Dodgers, so he will be in L.A. likely for the remainder of his career.
Betts buys Chip Kelly’s home in L.A.
To make himself comfortable in L.A., Betts recently purchased UCLA head football coach Chip Kelly’s home in Encino.
L.A. is a long way away from Harlem, and with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic still going on, it is hard to see Betts visiting the Globetrotters this offseason. Whenever the pandemic ends though, Betts, who is only 5’10” but can dunk a basketball, will make for a really entertaining Globetrotter.
