The Los Angeles Dodgers traded for Logan Forsythe to address a void at second base and the leadoff spot in their lineup. However, the versatile infielder has yet to hit his stride this season.
Forsythe had begun to establish some momentum when he sustained a toe fracture as a result of being hit by a pitch. It required a stint on the disabled list. Then while on a rehab assignment, Forsythe had his clock reset because of hamstring tightness.
He’s appeared in 10 games (eight starts) since coming off the DL. However, the 30-year-old is not in Saturday’s lineup against the Milwaukee Brewers.
According to David Vassegh of AM 570 L.A. Sports Radio, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said Forsythe is limited by a hip/groin issue:
Logan Forsythe getting a day off because right groin/hip issue. Roberts hopeful he can start tomorrow. #Dodgers

Kiké Hernandez is starting at third base, with Chase Utley playing second base and leading off.
Since returning, Forsythe has primarily received playing time at third base because of Justin Turner’s absence. Forsythe started at third on Friday night and went 0-for-5 with three strikeouts in the Dodgers’ extra-innings win.
In 31 at-bats since coming off the DL in late May, he’s managed just four hits, including one double and one home run. Overall this season, Forsythe is batting .227/.359/.307 with three doubles, one home run and six RBI.
