The Los Angeles Dodgers recalled Kyle Farmer from Triple-A Oklahoma City on Saturday, giving the team 39 players on their active roster. Farmer returns on the first day he was eligible and is in his third stint the Dodgers.
He was sent down last month when the Dodgers reinstated Cody Bellinger from the 10-day disabled list. Farmer began the season with Double-A Tulsa, where he batted .336/.408/.464 with seven doubles, three home runs and 19 RBI in 33 games.
He was promoted to Oklahoma City in late May and hit .316/.363/.503 with 13 doubles, one triple, six home runs and 29 RBI in 48 games before earning a surprise call-up to the Dodgers at the end of July.
Farmer’s first stint with the team lasted two weeks and began on a memorable note. His MLB debut was a pinch-hit appearance against the San Francisco Giants in the 11th inning.
Farmer delivered a walk-off two-run double, becoming the first Dodgers player since Darren Dreifort on May 27, 1994, for his first career hit be a walk-off, and Farmer also became the first player in franchise history with a walk-off RBI in his first career plate appearance.
In 12 games with the Dodgers, Farmer is 4-for-12 with one double, two RBI and three strikeouts.
