Clayton Kershaw is among the several Los Angeles Dodgers who are active in the community, and on Saturday, July 22, Kershaw’s Challenge will partner with The Dream Center to host the annual Back To School Bash.

The event is being held at The Dream Center, located at 2301 Bellevue Ave., Los Angeles, Calif., 90026, and begins at 10 a.m. PT. It’s in effort to provide school supplies for children and families from impoverished areas throughout Los Angeles.

The Dream Center will distribute 2,500 backpacks to families from the Echo Park, Rampart District, Skid Row, Lincoln Heights, South Central and Watts neighborhoods. Each backpack will be filled with pencils, paper and notebooks.

In addition to providing school supplies, Kershaw’s Challenge and The Dream Center are presenting each family with an opportunity to receive health screenings, dental checkups, haircuts, clothing and groceries, all at no cost.

The day’s activities will again include face painting, a petting zoo, science fairs, raffles for bikes, and inflatable jumpers. Last year, Justin Turner, who works closely with The Dream Center, and musician Jordin Sparks, joined Kershaw at the Back to School Bash to help make for a memorable experience.

They assisted in the distribution of backpacks at The Dream Center’s entrance, Kershaw and Turner went on to visit several of the attractions to interact with and provide instruction to the kids who were on hand.
