The highly anticipated two-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park this week was played in front of a full capacity crowd for the first time this season.
The increase in fans helped create an atmosphere that neither team had experienced since 2019. It was a welcome sight for the likes of Clayton Kershaw and Justin Turner, who felt the games had a more normal feel to them.
Many other ballparks are beginning to follow suit with easing restrictions as well, including Dodger Stadium, which is set to return to full capacity on June 15.
Joe Kelly thinks every stadium should fully open up again and allow fans who are comfortable attending games the opportunity to do so, via Bill Plunkett of the Southern California News Group:
“It’s about time. I think every stadium should be like that. If people are comfortable coming, let them come. Don’t deprive people of seeing Mookie Betts and Albert Pujols on the same team. And Bellinger and Kershaw and Bauer and Price. … It’s a shame we have to waste it on all these rules and technicalities. If people are vaccinated and want to take the risk let them come.”
Since the start of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the majority of MLB games have been played in empty stadiums or with limited fans present.
With a star-studded roster and aspirations of repeating as World Series champions, the Dodgers figure to be one of the hottest tickets in town, whether they’re playing at home or on the road.
Dodgers tickets for Dodger Stadium full-capacity games now on sale
Dodgers tickets for Dodger Stadium games from June 15 through the remainder of the season are now on sale to the general public.
The club is averaging more than 15,000 in attendance and have sold out every game at Dodger Stadium so far in the 2021 season.
Previously, the club had been limited to filling up Dodger Stadium to only 33% capacity. However, social distancing requirements prevented them from truly doing so.
L.A. attempted to mitigate that by selling tickets in fully-vaccinated only sections, where fans are not spaced out in separate pods.
