Set to begin their campaign as defending California League champions on Thursday, High-A Rancho Cucamonga have announced their 2016 Opening Day roster.

The Quakes are carrying 13 pitchers, two catchers, five infielders and five outfielders. Of the 25 players on the active roster, 14 were with the Los Angeles Dodgers’ High-A affiliate last season and received a Cal League championship ring.

Notable additions to the Quakes roster include right-hander Grant Holmes, who was No. 22 overall by the Dodgers in the 2014 draft, and Cuban outfielder Yusniel Diaz, signed for $15.5 million last November.

Holmes went 6-4 with a 3.14 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and averaged 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings over 24 starts with Low-A Great Lakes in 2015. While the Quakes receive an influx of talent from last season’s Loons roster, they do lose the likes of Cody Bellinger and Alex Verdugo.

Joey Curletta, Kyle Garlick, Paul Hoenecke, Tim Locastro and Johan Mieses are among the players returning from last year’s championship Quakes team. They open their schedule by hosting the Lake Elsinore Storm (San Diego Padres affiliate) for a four-game series at LoanMart Field. Rancho is being managed by Drew Saylor, who joined the organization after spending the past four years in the Cleveland Indians organization.
