The Los Angeles Dodgers reinstated Grant Dayton from the 10-day disabled list prior to beginning their 10-game homestand on Thursday. Sergio Romo was designated for assignment to create room for Dayton on the 25-man active roster.

Dayton missed 11 games after he placed on the DL on July 6 due to neck stiffness. He previously spent time on the disabled list this season with a left intercostal strain.

The 29-year-old last pitched June 30 against the San Diego Padres, when he allowed one run on one hit, issued one walk and struck out one in 1.2 innings. Of his 27 games this season, 22 have been scoreless efforts.

Overall this season, Dayton is 1-1 with a 3.63 ERA, 1.12 whip, 12 walks and 20 strikeouts in 22.1 innings. He made one rehab appearance each with the Arizona League Dodgers and High-A Rancho Cucamonga.

In those games, Dayton threw a combined two 2.0 scoreless frames with three strikeouts against one walk.

Dayton made his MLB debut last season and went on to appear in 25 games. He finished the year 0-1 with a 2.05 ERA, 2.96 FIP and 0.76 WHIP.

Romo signed a one-year contract with the Dodgers during the offseason, but the homecoming has hardly been a success. He went 1-1 with a 6.12 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 30 games.
