Los Angeles Dodgers Minor League infielder Erick Mejia was named Texas League Player of the Week for games played July 24-30, 2017. Mejia started in each of Double-A Tulsa’s seven games during that stretch, and batted .440/.462/1.000.

He went 11-for-25 with six runs scored, two doubles, four home runs and seven RBI. Mejia is batting .302/.367/.416 with 10 doubles, three triples, four home runs and 19 RBI in 71 games over two stints with the Drillers this season.

The 22-year-old has also spent time with High-A Rancho Cucamonga (24 games) and appeared in one game with Triple-A Oklahoma City. He went 20-for-87 with four doubles, one triple, one home run and 11 RBI with the Quakes.

The Dodgers acquired Mejia from the Seattle Mariners in January 2016 in exchange for Joe Wieland. Mejia spent all of last season with the Quakes.

He joins a growing list of Drillers players to earn Texas League honors this year. The last was Tim Shibuya, who was named the circuit’s Pitcher of the Week for July 3-9.

Edwin Rios, Kyle Farmer, Jose Miguel Fernandez have previously been named Texas League Player of the Week, while Walker Buehler received Pitcher of the Week honors not long before he was promoted to Oklahoma City.
