Los Angeles Dodgers players are unable to have contact with any members of the organization during the MLB lockout, much less represent the team for events in the community, but Chris Taylor and his girlfriend took it upon themselves to connect with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles patients.

Taylor and Mary Keller coordinated with the hospital for a virtual appearance with children on the inpatient floor within our Cancer and Blood Diseases Institute. CHLA shard video of Taylor and Keller speaking with Christian, who expressed his gratitude for the super utilityman.

“I wanted to say thank you for signing with the Dodgers again,” Christian began. “We needed you. We need you. You’re one of the big players on the team, so thank you for that. It means a lot.

Taylor thanked Christian, who went on to reveal he was at Dodger Stadium for his first career walk-off home run. Taylor’s blast gave the Dodgers a crucial victory over the Colorado Rockies in September 2018.

Also not far from Christian’s mind was Taylor and the Dodgers capturing the World Series. “Congratulations on winning in 2020,” he said. “It was a big deal. I had a lot of fun partying and everything.”

In addition to Taylor, Justin and Kourtney Turner have supported Children’s Hospital Los Angeles through financial contributions and special events. Justin Turner partners with CHLA to each year to have patients design special cleats for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Report: Taylor didn’t factor in money

While there wasn’t a shortage of interest in Taylor, he reportedly conveyed how lucrative of a contract he received wasn’t a primary factor and there was a strong desire to re-sign with the Dodgers.
