The Los Angeles Dodgers are yet to move on any of their key free agents and to this point the lone addition was signing Andrew Heaney to a one-year contract.

Heading into the offseason there was uncertainty on what to expect with free agency given recent history and the looming expiration of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA). However, there has been some activity over recent weeks as players looked to sign before uncertainty sets in.

Although it’s yet to manifest, it’s believed Corey Seager is looking to sign before the current CBA is up. Doing so would represent the biggest free agent to ink a new deal.

That would be of note for the Dodgers, and president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman expressed his belief that the free-agent market would pick up, via MLB Network

“I can definitely see things happening just after Thanksgiving. But it’s one of those things that’s really hard to know, because I think just looking back, there were a lot of times we feel like there’s a lot of momentum to a deal, and then things kind of halt. So it’s a tough thing to predict.”

Since Friedman’s appearance on “Hot Stove,” the New York Mets have agreed to contracts with Starling Marte, Eduardo Escobar and Mark Canha. The Boston Red Sox also came to terms with veteran starter Michael Wacha.

Dodgers pursuing Seager

Along with touching on general MLB free agency, Friedman pointed to the Dodgers’ history of pursuing their own free agents when asked about Seager.

In addition to L.A., the 2020 World Series MVP has reportedly drawn interest from the Detroit Tigers, New York Yankees and Texas Rangers. Though, the Yankees were more recently said to be keeping track of the free-agent shortstops rather than actively pursuing a signing.
