Mookie Betts and LeBron James have developed something of a friendship over recent years while starring for the Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Lakers, respectively.
Betts and James not only are leaders on their teams but also among the best players in their leagues. They were together late last week when James hosted a disco-themed birthday party to celebrate turning 39.
James turned 39 years old on December 30, when the Lakers suffered a road loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. His “Studio 84” birthday party was held at Hyde Sunset and featured a wide range of fellow professional athletes and celebrities alike.
Betts’ wife, Brianna, shared photos of the couple’s outfits on her Instagram account.
Beyonce, Jay-Z, Kevin Hart, Adele, Anthony Davis, Draymond Green and Los Angeles Clippers head coach Tyronn Lue were also among those on hand to help James celebrate his birthday.
Betts fittingly wore an all-denim ensemble with a turtleneck, and James had multiple outfit changes. But it was Beyonce who arguably stole the show in a Barbie pink mini dress.
Mookie Betts, LeBron James celebrate
During an August game at Dodger Stadium last season, James was in a suite along with his wife Savannah, their sons LeBron “Bronny” Jr. and Bryce Maximus, and daughter Zhuri Nova. They attended on LeBron James bobblehead night, and he went wild as Betts put together the 28th multi-homer game of his career.
Betts pointed toward James after each blast and the two saluted one another.
“I didn’t think about it until then. He’s done it during his games, so I returned the favor,” Betts explained after the Dodgers swept a doubleheader that day.
