Cup of Joe came with a Los Angeles Dodgers twist for some fans on Monday morning. To kick off the 14th annual Dodgers Love L.A. Community Tour, Yasiel Puig and Justin Turner put their off-the-field skills to the test at two local Coffee Bean locations.
Unless they caught an announcement on the Dodgers’ Twitter account in the early-morning hours, patrons visiting the Coffee Bean located at 12050 Ventura Blvd., Studio City, 91604, were surprised to see Puig splitting time between signing autographs and working as a barista.
“This is so exciting and what a treat for guests. I love it,” said Coffee Bean senior marketing manager Ashley Ulrich.
Similarly, Turner awaited fans at the Coffee Bean on 8979 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood. He too distributed free coffee, signed autographs and learned how to pull a double espresso. Turner couldn’t quite get the timing on the first attempt but once he did, the power temporarily went out.
The Dodgers’ weeklong tour continues Tuesday with a fitness and health clinic scheduled at Dodger Stadium for 100 underserved young women from the New Village Girls Academy. The clinic will include stretching exercises, athletic activities, tips on healthy eating habits and lunch.
Later that evening, the Dodgers are hosting a movie night in the Dodger Stadium Lexus Dugout Club for Cedars-Sinai’s pediatric patients and their families. Trayce Thompson and the Dodgers character will join the families for fun activities and games prior to watching the movie.
