The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from a futile offensive performance with a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves to take the rubber match of their series. L.A. also finished 6-1 on their homestand and took momentum into an off day before beginning a road trip.
Tony Gonsolin turned in a quality start in which he did not allow a hit until Manny Piña led off the sixth inning with an infield single that beat the shift. The Braves had only managed two walks against Gonsolin up to that point.
He got through six scoreless innings with just the one hit and three walks allowed. The outing was Gonsolin’s longest since Sept. 26, 2020, when he also went six frames against the L.A. Angels.
The Dodgers provided Gonsolin with an early lead thanks to Freddie Freeman’s home run off Charlie Morton in the first inning. The homer, which was Freeman’s second of the series, gave the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

Edwin Ríos provided some breathing room in the fifth inning with a leadoff home run, his first of the season. Cody Bellinger added an RBI triple in the sixth, and Justin Turner drove in the Dodgers’ final insurance with an RBI base hit in the seventh.

Bellinger went 2-for-4 with a double, triple and one RBI. He leads the Dodgers with six multi-hit games this season, which is two shy of matching last season’s total.
Bellinger also has three multi extra-base hit games this season, surpassing the two he had in both 2020 and 2021.
