Shohei Ohtani singlehandedly helped erase a deficit and the Los Angeles Dodgers ultimately erupted in the ninth inning for a 9-2 comeback win against the Atlanta Braves.

With two outs and the Dodgers trailing 2-0 in the fifth, Ohtani pulled an RBI double into right field that cut the Braves’ lead in half.

Batting again with two on and two outs in the seventh inning, Ohtani had enough power behind his outstretched swing to flip another RBI double to right field.

The game remained tied into the ninth inning, thanks in large part because of Michael Kopech stranding runners at second and third base in the eighth. Kopech got Travis d’Arnaud on a shallow fly ball and struck out Orlando Arcia and Jarred Kelenic.

Each of Kopech’s final seven pitches in the eighth inning were 100 or 101 mph as he escaped the jam.

The Dodgers’ big ninth inning started when Will Smith hit a fly ball high off the wall in right-center field for a one-out triple. Any disappointment of nearly missing a go-ahead home run was quickly wiped away when Mookie Betts followed an intentional walk of Ohtani with an RBI base hit.

Freddie Freeman’s chopper to the left side got through the infield for an RBI single and a second run scored on his hit when Kelenic overran the baseball.

Teoscar Hernández broke the game open with a two-run homer and started a stretch of three consecutive long balls as Tommy Edman and Max Muncy joined in as well.

Dodgers back-to-back-to-back home runs

The Dodgers have now hit back-to-back-to-back home runs twice this season. Their first instance doing so was last week with Edman, Smith and Muncy combining for the accomplishment against the Chicago Cubs.
