The Los Angeles Dodgers bounced back from a walk-off loss with a 10-1 blowout of the Washington Nationals, led offensively by Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman and Trea Turner, and Tyler Anderson’s dominant outing.
Betts and Freeman quickly went to work on lighting a spark for the Dodgers by opening the game with a base hit and double, respectively. Turner couldn’t add to the consecutive hits but his RBI groundout provided the Dodgers with a 1-0 lead in the first inning.
Will Smith added a two-out RBI base hit before Nationals starter Joan Adon could get through the inning.
Following a Cody Bellinger walk and stolen base in the fourth inning, Chris Taylor hit an RBI triple to right field. Taylor was aided by Juan Soto mistiming his jump and the ball hitting off the wall in right field.

It was the first of two adventures for Soto, who then failed to find Betts’ fly ball that landed in front of him for a two-run double. Bellinger’s two-out RBI double in the fifth inning Adon from the game.
Freeman added to his big night with a second double of the game in the sixth, narrowly missing a home run but driving in a pair to break it open. Turner then collected his first hit with a two-run single that extended his hitting streak to 15 games.
Freeman’s RBI single in the seventh inning put the Dodgers in double digits.
Anderson leads Dodgers pitching effort
With the Dodgers bullpen having taken on a significant workload of late, Anderson provided them with some relief by going eight scoreless innings.
He had a perfect game until César Hernandez’s one-out double in the sixth inning, which Alcides Escobar followed with a single. Anderson then induced an inning-ending double play to keep his shutout intact.
The Nationals loaded the bases in the seventh but were turned away when Freeman made a leaping catch on a soft line drive hit back of first base.
The start was Anderson’s longest of the year and he finished with a season-high eight strikeouts.
