The Los Angeles Dodgers fell into an early deficit but methodically worked their way back into the game for a 3-2 victory against the Atlanta Braves. L.A. now enters play Wednesday in position to complete a sweep of the National League East leaders.
Walker Buehler wasn’t his most dominant but he still managed to limit the Braves to just two runs over six innings. Buehler has gone at least six frames in 26 of 27 starts this season, and a minimum of seven in 12 outings.
He was aided by Mookie Betts making a running catch in right field to rob Travis d’Arnaud of a likely home run in the second inning. However, Betts could be of no assistance when Buehler surrendered a solo homer to former teammate Joc Pederson on a high fastball out of the zone.
Buehler begrudgingly said after the game he likely had a text message from Pederson. “We got the win, and that’s all I care about,” Buehler added.

After d’Arnaud’s RBI double in the fourth inning, the Dodgers went to work on chipping away at their deficit. It began with Betts slugging a home run for the second time in as many games.
That was just one of three hits Charlie Morton allowed — with the other two coming to Justin Turner on a double and single. The one run was all the Dodgers could scratch against Morton over six innings.
They wound up getting to the Braves’ bullpen, beginning with Chris Taylor pinch-hitting for Buehler and tying the game on a sacrifice fly in the seventh inning. Then two batters after Betts’ leadoff walk in the eighth, Corey Seager ended an eight-pitch at-bat with a game-winning RBI double.
“At-bat of the night,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said.

Since losing to the Philadelphia Phillies on Aug. 12 and falling to 13-21 in one-run games this season, the Dodgers are now 20-21 in such contests.
